About Nottingham Farm

Nottingham Farm is the training operation of Melbourne Cup winning jockey, Michelle Payne.

Based out of Ballarat, Nottingham Farm consists of day yards and boxes and is very much a New Zealand style set up. Horses need clean air and a tranquil environment in order to absorb the training is set down for each individual horse.

Bart Cummings always said “I always look on the bright side of everything. If you keep aiming for some goal, you usually get there if you don’t give up.”

Nottingham Farm Training Philosophy

Nottingham Farm exclusively works with only 15 horses in work at any one time. Horses need individual care and attention, and at Nottingham Farm we are only focussed on having Group Class horses. Michelle believes in riding the horses in work herself, giving her first hand knowledge of where the horses are at and what they are capable of doing. Placement is also pivotal in success. It is our job to bring out the potential and performance in the team. Michelle’s experience in riding from a young age and working with stables such as Weir Racing, Moody Racing, Bart Cummings and many others across Australia & New Zealand makes for a leading advantage. Having a horse trained at Nottingham Farm means the horse and owners will get individual attention and great opportunity to win Group Races.
